Towards a species level phylogeny for Symphoricarpos (Caprifoliaceae).
Although recent molecular phylogenetic studies of Dipsacales support a Caprifolieae clade containing Leycestaria, Triosteum, Symphoricarpos, and Lonicera, relationships among these taxa remains uncertain. Likewise a phylogenetic studies sampling more than just a handful of the species of Symphoricarpos has not been pursued. Here I present data from chloroplast and several single-copy nuclear genes to help resolve the phylogeny of Symporicarpos. I also compare several recently proposed gene-tree, species-tree methodologies to concatenation approaches.
