Economic Botany Section SHRIVASTAVA, Awadhesh [1]. Physiological behaviour of pestides in nitrogen fixing Cyanobacterium Nostoc calcicola. Among all bio-macro and micro molecules, protein is the first formed structure, Since starting of the biome and nucleic acid is the chemical basis of livings, evolves since origin of life, hence considering the most significant compound and simultaneously nitrogen is the most abundant mineral and non mineral in the atmosphere, but animals as well as plants except some microbes, are too unable to take atmospheric dinitrogen directly. The capacity to capture a little of the vastly present atmospheric dinitrogen in an assimilable form, however, rests with only certain bacteria and Cyanobacteria. Developed Countries, after facing the problems of feeding increasing population from a diminishing area of arable land coupled with the steadily decreasing agricultural work force, started injecting fossil fuel energy into agriculture either directly in mechanical devices, such as tractors, water lifter like bores or indirectly in the manufacture of the various agrochemicals as fertilizers and pesticides, as an immediate but expensive solution to their problems. Therefore, in the agricultural fields the naturally occurring cyanobacteria are automatically exposed to a variety of toxic agro-chemicals, including the pesticides. All those herbicides, which interfere with the photosynthetic reactions in their target herbs and weeds, have invariably proved toxic to the Cyanobacteria as they share many of the unique pathways of plants, including the oxygenic photosynthesis. But apart from their “plant-type’’ characteristics these organisms possess the property and simple prokaryotic genome organization and short generation time Hence present work has been considered to view how pesticides Diquate dibromide and Bengard controls the physiology of cyanobacterium Nostoc calcicola collected from rice field of Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh state. It shows that at low concentration the growth and heterocyst forming capacity enhances while it is lethal at higher dose when exposed to long duration by the help of OD and microscopic observation.
