Mycological Section Hong, Kun-Yuan [1], Wu, Yu-Hui [1], Fu, Chuen-Hsu [2], Hsu, Fu-Lan [1]. Fumigative activity of the Brown Root Disease with some essential oils. The brown root disease has caused death of over 200 tree varieties in Taiwan until now, so it is called "tree cancer". In the fumigative experiment, this study extracted the essential oils from the leaves of 11 plant varieties through vapor distillation method and took the just-inoculated medium overgrowing with the brown root diseases as the materials. After the toxicity experiment of overgrowing brown root disease, it was observed that the toxic effects of Camphora, Linaloola, Cymbopogon Citratus, Thuja occidentalis and Tagetes erecta were the best, able to attain 100% toxicity.
