Policy on abstract submission and acceptance

In recent years there has been an increasing problem of people submitting abstracts and not showing up at the meeting. This creates many problems by creating gaps during the sessions and increasing costs. An analysis of those not showing up for our meeting indicated that the majority of them were not members of our participating societies. The program organizers discussed many ways to alleviate this problem and this year we will try a new policy and see how it affects the no-show problem.

To have your abstract accepted you have two options:
1) be a current member of one of our our participating societies (American Bryological and Lichenological Society, American Fern Society, American Society of Plant Taxonomists, Botanical Society of America, Mycological Society of America)

or 2) have a fully paid full meeting registration by May 1. There will be no reimbursement for no-shows in the second category. Abstracts submitted by non-members who have not paid the registration fee by May 1st will be rejected.
